The Foundation will contribute to the funding of this well-established social resource run by Cáritas Diocesana de Barcelona, aimed at elderly people experiencing vulnerability and housing exclusion in the Almeda, neighbourhood of Cornellà de Llobregat.

Metropolitan House Foundation and Cáritas Diocesana de Barcelona have signed an addendum to their existing framework collaboration agreement in order to formalise support for the social project Housing with Services – Almeda.

Through this addendum, the Foundation will contribute to the project’s funding for one year. The initiative seeks to improve the quality of life of elderly people, over 60 years old, who are experiencing vulnerability and housing exclusion, by adapting housing resources to their needs and ensuring a safe and dignified living environment.

Launched in 1999, the project is a well-established and unique resource in the city of Cornellà de Llobregat, specifically in the Almeda neighbourhood. It is currently expected to benefit 22 elderly individuals who, despite maintaining their independence, have limited financial means and little or no family or social support..

The addendum was signed by José Vicente Muñoz Gómez, Director General of Metropolitan House Foundation, and Cristina García Marsá, Secretary General of Cáritas Diocesana de Barcelona. The signing ceremony was also attended by Joana Piñero, Deputy Mayor for Social Policies, Equality and Health of Cornellà City Council.

Through this initiative, the Foundation continues its collaboration with Cáritas and reaffirms its commitment to improving access to housing for particularly vulnerable groups.

Cáritas Diocesana de Barcelona is a social organisation of the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Barcelona whose mission is to carry out and promote charitable social action for the most vulnerable people.
