Metropolitan House Foundation participates in the popular cleaning of the Llobregat river, within the European initiative “Let’s Clean Up Europe” framework

The Foundation joins to this international initiative with the Hospitalet de Llobregat City Council, who organized the environmental activity

Last Saturday, May 6th, Metropolitan House Foundation participated in a popular environmental activity organized by the City Council of Hospitalet de Llobregat as part of the “Let’s Clean Up Europe” international campaign, which consisted of cleaning the edge of the Llobregat river, on its way through the city, in order to keep the natural space free of litter and waste.

The participants, of which nearly 40 attended on behalf of the Foundation, were for almost 2 hours removing the most visible litters that was on the river bank, or on the path that borders it.

 

 

 

In total, around 80 kg of litter were removed, of which 20 kg were scrap metal, 30 kg of paper, 10 kg of packaging and plastics and 20 kg of waste. Obviously, each typology was selectively separated to be managed properly and according to recycling capabilities.

 

 

The activity not only contributed to taking care of the environment and keeping the ecosystem cleaned, but also contributed to raising awareness about the importance of sustainable practices and encouraging community participation.

 

 

“Let’s Clean Up Europe!” initiative

This environmental action is part of the international initiative “Let’s Clean Up Europe!, held this year from May 5th to 7th, which promotes awareness actions through the collection of waste dumped in forests, beaches, riverbanks, etc.

The Catalan Waste Agency (ARC) has coordinated this 2023 campaign in Catalonia, in which 540 entities have participated, organizing 645 actions to clean up natural spaces.
