Metropolitan House Foundation collaborates with AFA Baix Llobregat on a cognitive stimulation project for people with Alzheimer’s disease
Both entities have signed an agreement to fund the Cognitive Stimulation Classroom project. The initiative is aimed at people with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia and seeks to improve their quality of life as well as that of their caregivers.
Within the framework of the collaboration agreement signed in November 2025 with AFA Baix Llobregat, an additional agreement has been formalized to contribute, through a donation, to the funding of a cognitive stimulation project that the association will carry out at its centres in the Baix Llobregat region.
The project provides specialized care for people with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias, in a suitable environment designed to encourage cognitive stimulation. Its main objective is to improve the quality of life of those affected and their families, offering caregivers time and space for respite, as well as enhancing users’ abilities, slowing down the degenerative process and providing spaces for interaction with therapeutic and psychosocial content.
The project, entitled “Cognitive Stimulation Room”, will be funded for one year and is expected to benefit around 30 people.
The agreement signing event was attended by Maria Mercè Rull Giner, President of AFA Baix Llobregat, accompanied by Esther Villegas, Project Manager of the organization, and Joana Piñero, Deputy Mayor for Social Policies, Equality and Health of the Cornellà City Council. Representing the Metropolitan House Foundation were José Vicente Muñoz, Managing Director of the Foundation, accompanied by Josep Lluís Pellicer, Secretary of the organization.
