«Hope by Your Side»: a project to fight loneliness, reaching 2,350 people with the support of Metropolitan House Foundation
The emotional support project, partly funded by Metropolitan House Foundation, launches with special significance following the death of Enric Morist, director of the organising foundation, in May 2025, shortly after both entities signed their collaboration agreement.
“Hope by Your Side” is an initiative by Ajuda i Esperança Foundation to provide emotional and social support to elderly people living alone and other groups facing affective vulnerability.
The initiative receives financial support from Metropolitan House Foundation, within the framework of the collaboration agreement both organisations signed in early 2025 to improve the emotional wellbeing of people suffering from loneliness. During this first year of collaboration, the project aims to reach 2,350 beneficiaries.
“Hope by Your Side” aims to reduce the feeling of unwanted social isolation among elderly people, foster ongoing and meaningful contact between individuals, strengthen community support networks, and personalise care according to each person’s needs. Its main recipients are elderly people living alone who are at risk of social isolation and have unmet emotional needs, though it also reaches out to other people in emotionally vulnerable situations who need affective support to improve their wellbeing.
The launch of this collaboration carries a deeply emotional significance. Enric Morist, director of Ajuda i Esperança Foundation and the driving force behind this project, passed away in May 2025, just months after the agreement was signed. His passing delayed the start of the initiative, which now moves forward with the firm commitment of both organisations.
“We are truly excited about the importance of this project, and deeply moved because we owe it to our friend Enric — and we dedicate it to him,” said representatives of Metropolitan House Foundation.
Through this collaboration, Metropolitan House Foundation reaffirms its commitment to the most vulnerable people and to a more cohesive and humane society, backing social projects that place emotional care at their core.
