Representatives of the Metropolitan House Foundation visited the Sabadell plant of the Fundació Formació i Treball to learn more about its social and environmental work. The visit was an opportunity to strengthen the collaboration between both entities and reaffirm their commitment to a more fair, inclusive, and sustainable model.

Members of the Metropolitan House Foundation have visited the Fundació Formació i Treball (Training and Employment foundation), a leading social organization for its positive impact on the region. During the visit to the Sabadell plant, attendees have been able to learn more about the foundation’s work, particularly in the area of the collection, sorting, and reuse of clothing and accessories.

The Fundació Formació i Treball carries out work with a triple impact:

  • Social: it facilitates access to basic necessities (clothing, footwear, and accessories) for low-income families, while promoting the employment of people facing or at risk of exclusion.
  • Environment: promotes the circular economy, encouraging reuse and recycling to reduce waste and extend the life cycle of products.
  • Economic: creates sustainable jobs in the area for vulnerable people in the process of reintegrating into the workforce and generates responsible economic activity through its stores.

The Metropolitan House Foundation has a framework collaboration agreement with this entity, which includes the SOLIDARITY WARDROBE project, a campaign aimed at Metropolitan House staff and people associated with or collaborating with the Foundation. This campaign aims to collect clothing and accessories, with the aim of giving them a second life and contributing to a more supportive and environmentally friendly model.

Representing the Metropolitan House Foundation, the visit was attended by President Rafael Angulo; General Director José Vicente Muñoz; and Secretary Josep Lluís Pellicer, accompanied by members of the Metropolitan House team and Foundation collaborators. Representing the Foundation for Training and Employment, Natalia Nupieri, Head of Circular Economy, and Roser Badia, Donations Specialist, accompanied the delegation and offered general explanations about the foundation and its mission, as well as specific details about the work carried out at the organization’s plant in Sabadell. This 28,144 m² facility is considered the largest and most advanced textile processing center in Southern Europe and already generates employment for more than 240 vulnerable people.

This event was an enriching experience that reinforces our desire to continue promoting collaborations with organizations that share our values and social commitment.
