Awarded the 1st “Award for the best Final Master’s Thesis in Decent and Sustainable Housing”
The Decent and Sustainable Housing Chair of the UPF – Barcelona School of Management, developed jointly with the Metropolitan House Foundation, has awarded the best Final Master’s Thesis on the topic of decent and sustainable housing.
Last November, the jury of the 1st Aware of the Decent and Sustainable Housing Chair (made up of Dr. Susana Domingo, Dr. Ramón Bastida and Dr. José Luis Pellicer) awarded the “Award for the best Final Master’s Thesis in Decent and Sustainable Housing”, awarded with €2,000, to the work “DECO LIVING: The sustainable Transition of an Artists Coling” by Hugo López González, student of the Master of Science in Sustainability at ESCI-UPF, which obtained a score of 16/20 points. The award will be presented at the event organized by the BSM-UPF on February 9th.
The jury also agreed to give a mention to the work “THE ECONOMIC IMPACT OF SUSTAINABILITY” by the authors Martina Clavijo Dolz, Vanessa Cristina Lastra Tapia and Fátima Villar Torrado from the Master in Financial and Accounting Management at the BSM-UPF, which obtained a score of 14/20 points.
This award, as stated by the president of the Metropolitan House Foundation, Rafael Angulo, “wants to contribute to promoting the talent of highly prepared young people who provide efficient solutions to the problems of the most vulnerable people in our society and, especially in the real estate sector, which is quite pressured both due to the market situation, demographic changes and housing policies.”
The Final Master’s Thesis presented, all of them developed during the 2022-2023 academic year in accordance with the bases of the Award, have been evaluated taking into account the following assessment criteria: topicality and relevance of the topics covered, quality of the report of the TFM presented, project implementation capacity and academic quality
The objectives of the Decent and Sustainable Housing Chair are:
- Generate and develop knowledge about housing policies from economic, fiscal and financial, social and management perspectives, aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens, preserving the environment, efficiency and sustainability of the real estate sector.
- Develop knowledge transfer activities and dissemination of the knowledge generated, through the organization of workshops and conferences, publication of informative articles, or preparation of case studies, among others.
- Develop activities related to the training and training of professionals in the real estate sector, through the creation of training programs, internships in real estate companies, etc.
