Appearance of the Decent and Sustainable Housing Chair at the Parliament of Catalonia

The appearance is part of the Commission of Investigation on the Accumulation of Real Estate by Certain Entities

Yesterday, in Room 1 of the Parliament of Catalonia, the Director of the Decent and Sustainable Housing Chair of the of the Pompeu Fabra University – Barcelona School of Management, Ramon Bastida, appeared as a representative of the Chair in which the Metropolitan House Foundation collaborates.

This Commission of Inquiry, whose creation was approved by the Catalan Parliament in March 2023, aims to “analyse the evolution over the last decades of the public housing stock and official protection housing and the main causes of the loss of this park. Also, to analysing the process of the bank rescue and the final destination of the properties of the rescued banks, to obtain the maximum information and the maximum number of data on the homes that the big actors accumulate and how they act to analyse possible abusive practices and cooperate with the Government in the creation of a register of large holders.”

At the appearance on Tuesday, February 6th, in addition to the representation of the Decent and Sustainable Housing Chair of the UPF – BSM, also appeared   representatives of the UNESCO Housing Chair of Rovira i Virgili University and of the DESCA Human Rights Observatory.

Ramon Bastida, Director of the Decent and Sustainable Housing Chair of the UPF-BSM, José Vicente Muñoz, Director General of Fundación Metropolitan House, and José Luís Pellicer, Secretary of the Foundation’s Board, accompanied by Deputy Eva Candela.
